Mexico economy is living a new era of international business, the trend is NEARSHORING, which is generating a record in foreign investment and the installation of new industries in the country.
The importance of the SUPPLY CHAIN becomes critical, given the recent experience in the scarcity of materials, caused by the pandemic, which has led to the development of new logistics strategies to guarantee supply and avoid production stoppages.
One of the main nearshoring strategies that the industry in Mexico seeks is to have a safety inventory from their foreign suppliers in a warehouse located within Mexico and close to their factories to enhance a Just in Time supply chain.
Most Industrial manufacturing companies in Mexico, whether foreign corporation or national, are companies that operate under IMMEX Program. (Manufacturing Industry, Maquiladora and Export Services).
There are 2 options that a foreign supplier could find in Mexico, the first and most common is to contract a BONDED WAREHOUSE, which is a busisness model known as an international standard that you can find in many countries even here in Mexico but has their limitation and will apply for regular international Business transactions.
In Mexico there is a second, more versatile and dynamic option for the Industry, which is a 3PL Wareshouse under an IMMEX Program, which works very similar to the bonded warehouse, but is an exclusive bussiness model for receiving, storing and distributing raw materials destinated to Manufacturing companies with IMMEX Program
The IMMEX Program is a Government program that offers benefits to International Trade and that allows companies under this program to temporarily import raw materials or goods for their transformation and subsequent export of a final product.
